Getting started with SpiderHead

SpiderHead is a local SEO crawler and audit toolkit. One Python core runs behind a desktop app, the seohead command line and an MCP server for AI agents, all working on the same local projects and retained scans.

  1. 1. Install

Python 3.10 or newer, pip and git. Clone the repository and install it into a virtual environment.

    bash
    git clone https://github.com/PavloSEO/spiderhead.git
    cd spiderhead
    python -m venv .venv
    source .venv/bin/activate
python -m pip install -e ".[all]"
  2. 2. Crawl and audit

Crawl a site with an explicit URL budget. The crawl is local, read-only and about two requests per second per host.

    bash
    seohead crawl-site --url https://example.com --max-urls 500 --scan-out ./scans/audit.sqlite
  3. 3. Build a report

Format the retained audit as a spreadsheet or a client document.

    bash
seohead report-build --audit ./scans/audit.sqlite --format xlsx --out audit.xlsx
  4. 4. Pick your interface

Keep working in the terminal, open the same project in the desktop app, or register the MCP server for your AI agent.
